S'more Game Pickups

Last Friday after work, darned if I didn't find myself at my favorite Salvation Army again.
Where I was able to score a few nice pickups.

An 80's TV classic I have been wanting to pickup

 Destruction Derby Arenas
Destruction Derby is one of my favorite game series, but this one just disappoints. I already have this in my collection, so this is just a flipper to make mew a few online spending dollars.

 True Crime Streets of L.A.
Already have this on Xbox, but for $1.99 a nice clean copy on PS2

 World Racing
A game I have been looking for my Original Xbox Racing collection
A nice clean complete with registration cards copy

And after these pickups, especially the World Racing and Greatest American Hero Pickups I would have been satisfied for the night, but of course since I did score, I had to continue my thrift shopping.

Then I shot over to Savers, where I picked up....

Rock Band Country Track Pack 2
Don't judge me. It was only $1.99
We still play Rock Band, so a few new songs to throw in the mix is a good thing

Then I swung into Half Price Books and picked up a few scores off their clearance rack

 Black
A great First Person Shooter - $3.00

 Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition
 $2.00
The Greatest Remix Hits edition has extra content

 Lego Batman 3
$3.00

A few original Xbox games in great shape for $2.00 each

 Prince of Persia Warrior Within

Prince of Persia The Two Thrones

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time

And in continuing with the Prince of Persia theme, in the mail when I got home

Prince of Persia on Xbox 360

Complete with Limited Edition Bonus Disc and Gamestop Character skin
To add to my Bonus Disc Collection

Xbox 360 Bonus Disc Bonanza

Today's blog brings us back to adding to my Xbox 360 Bonus Disc obsession

First up

Picked up the Bonus DVD for my copy of Splinter Cell Double Agent

Bonus Content for Assassins Creed Brotherhood

Bonus Disc for Assassins Creed II

And nope not just one, not just two but three Assassins Creed Bonus's!

While looking for the bonus disc for this game, I found that there was one of those Best Buy editions with an extra mini strategy guide, so of course I had to have that as well.

All together
Looking good

And, while I was perusing for a deal on the Best Buy Assassins Creed, I saw that Best Buy also had their own exclusive Far Cry 2 with a mini guide as well as a Gamestop preorder edition that came with a map and DLC? I did not know that either of these versions existed, so of course, me being me, had to get them and merge them together!

Gamestop version just had an exclusive slipcover to designate it as such

My complete version

And as a bonus - bonus
The code for the 6 bonus missions was still good, I redeemed it earlier today.

That's it fer now, More to come!

Star Wars Bounty Hunter by Limited Run Games

From Wikipedia:

Limited Run Games, Inc. is an American video game distributor based in Raleigh, North Carolina and a division of Mighty Rabbit Studios. The company specializes in the release of digital games in physical media, with the games being sold on their website. The company, founded by Douglas Bogart and Josh Fairhurst, was based on the preservation of video games, as well as catering to players who prefer physical discs and cartridges opposed to game downloads.

With a description like that, they sound like guys after my own heart and you would also think I, Mr. Physical Media Snob would be one of their top customers.

However, they do not do games for Xbox which is my main platform (and has been since 2001). They started out with making physical copies of digital only releases of Playstation Vita games, then they went on to Playstation 4, and also recently for the Nintendo Switch. None of which I own myself, so I have not felt the need to order from them. My 8 year old got a Switch for X-mas last year, so there is one I could play if I wanted to. Up until recently there hasn't been anything offered by them I had any interest in. Then they announced they were remaking Star Wars Bounty Hunter for the Playstation 4, this interested me.

I have had Star Wars Bounty Hunter for the Playstation 2, since way back when it was new, I enjoyed it.

Now even though I have no experience buying games from Limited Run, I do know that their games only go up in value, so if I wanted a copy of Bounty Hunter at a reasonable price, I had to get in on the pre-order on opening day. Especially since it was going to be limited to 7,500 copies. I know I have said in a previous Blog that I was not going to get a PS4, but....... Since this is my last console generation, we all know I am eventually going to be getting one. Especially with my love for racing games and wanting to play Gran Turismo sport.

So, I ordered a copy on June 28th, the day the pre-orders opened up and they sold out within 24 hours. It finally came the other day Spetember 9th, and I finally got around to opening it up today. It was $29.99, but after taxes and shipping it came to $38.12.

As I am carrying the package from the mailbox to the house, I hear what sounds like to me a loose disc in the case? But, I also know from watching peoples unboxings on You Tube that Limited run also includes Cards and other misc stuff with their games, so I wasn't too worried about it.

I opened up that bubble mailer, to find a sealed PS4 cased game. No surprise there, but I still hear the rattling, so I figure they must have put the extras in the game case with the game. So I rip off the plastic, open up the case and find the disc to be free and sliding around inside the case.....kind of a little disappointed with that to be honest.

After careful inspection the disc looked fine, Blurays are tough discs.

Here is the "manual" Kind of a waste in my opinion. they could have used a thicker stock of paper had the cover art on one side, and the notice on the other side, instead of a 4 "page" booklet.

I did not however see a collector card or sticker or anything else. Which is fine, as the last thing I need is more stuff sitting around, but I thought it was just a thing they did, but whatever.

Perusing the internet I found that plenty of other people did indeed get a collector card. 😢

Who's disc was also loose in their case if you watch their unboxing video

I loaded the game up into my oldest daughters PS4, took 3 tries to get logged into my Playstation account, as I hardly ever play on Playstation these days and forget my password. I was surprised that the install was pretty instantaneous, just like this would have been on the PS2. I was into the game.

That's neat, a picture of a PS2 Fat

And into the game

Played for a little while, got through the first stage and do look forward to finishing it. However I am having the same problem as I had when trying to play Killzone 4, the controls or is it the controller?

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, but still have lingering feelings of disappointment with my first purchase from Limited Run Games after reading and seeing other people talk them up. The loose disc and no collector card just leaves a question to me, about the quality of future purchases?

Weird Wreckfest Error on Xbox One

I picked this game up a week and a half ago, and I praised the developers for Pushing it's release back a year because they were unable to get it to run right on consoles. Unlike the major game studios like EA, Activision, Bethesda, They took the time to delay the game to fix these issues.

Well, my daughter and I have been having A LOT of fun playing this game. Then a strange thing happened, I got a weird Fatal Error Screen? On my Xbox One Console? I generally have only ever seen a screen like this on a PC, Weird,

Figured I would snap a picture

Close up of error. Sorry for the crappy pic, I still have a Galaxy S4

I was able to restart the game, and continue playing just fine, so who knows.......

I still highly recommend this game, as I am really really enjoying it!

Weekend Xbox Game Pickups

Picked up a few more games this week

First up a Mercari pickup

Ridge Racer 7 - Complete and in great shape!

One of the few PS3 games I still wanted/needed. Gamestop sells it for $9.99, and generally it goes for around $10.00 online as well, but I waited and bided my time and was able to get this copy for:
$5.00 Shipped!

Then Friday on the way home from work I picked up a new Xbox One game I had been waiting for that finally came out this week. It was supposed to come out last year, but the developers were having problems with it not running right on consoles, AND rather than just push it out like most game developers these days, they held it back and fixed what needed to be fixed BEFORE release. They get an extremely huuuuuuuge thumbs up from me for that!

Wreckfest

A Destruction Derby racing game. I have played a lot of hours already this weekend. And it is A LOT of fun, I highly recommend it. I will be spending the majority of my three day weekend playing!

Half Price Books had a 20% off sale, so of course I had to swing in and see what they had !

I was able to pick up a couple more Xbox 360 games

First I upgraded my copy of 2013's Tomb Raider reboot

Game of the Year Edition

Ninja Gaiden 3

Complete with the "online pass" Remember when developers were all butt hurt and blamed used game stores for their lower sales numbers, instead of them actually failing at making a good game?

Pop Cap Arcade Vol. 1

I love my arcade games, just something quick and fun to pickup and play.

Paid less than $5.00 each

That's it for the weekend, Waiting for a more few things to come in for the next blog.
