It's that time Again, Rant Inside!

It's been awhile since I have had a good Rant, And for me that is not normal, So.....

I am an avid reader, and have been for at least the last 32 years (could be longer, my years before I lived in California are a little fuzzy or just plain not there). I am one of those people when my "To Be Read" Pile of books gets down to 2-3, I get nervous and head out to Half Price Books.

Anyway, I have been noticing a disturbing trend over the last 10+ years. Spelling, Punctuation and Grammatical errors. I have been finding more and more of these in Professionally Published Books.
What is happening? I know society is just getting dumber and dumber, as the dumb people are out fucking the smart people, but come on?

And it is not just Books. I have found many of the same errors over the last 2 weeks on websites such as Kotaku and Jalopnik. 2 sites I peruse every Sunday. Aren't these people "Professional" Paid Journalists?

And, Job Ads. I am a Professional Data Compliance Analyst, and my current assignment ends in November, so I am also checking out the employment ads in search of a new and permanent position. Jobs in my line of work ask for a strong eye and attention to detail, Yet in the same ad they have one or more simple spelling errors, missing words, etc.. Seriously?

As far as books go, I personally think it is just publishers cutting costs, by skipping out on having an actual human proofreader, and "trusting" Microsoft Words (or whatever word processing software they use) spell check function. In writing my own book I know I see when I make mistakes, and Word does not catch them. As for the others mediums mentioned, I personally think it is just plain stupid, ignorant people, who have no pride in their work, and not enough brains in their head to notice, care, or are just plain lazy.

Seriously, book publishers, take some fucking pride in your product. I wonder how hard it is to get a proofreading job, maybe I should look into it. If it pays $3500.00 a month, I could work from home, what could be better than that? Where do I sign up? People always say if you are doing what you love, then you'll never work a day in your life, and I love reading.

That is all, I am sure this is going to fall on deaf, dumb and blind ears. But hey, I got it outta my system, For Now.

Road Rash for Sega Master System

As I have mentioned in previous posts, Road Rash is one of my absolute favorite game series, if you have a Sega Genesis and you don't have Road Rash, I don't know what the hell you are doing.

As far as I know, from what I have read online, Road Rash for the Sega Master System was not a U.S. Release. Over the years I have looked at eBay auctions for it, and seen it go for $40.00+ generally.

Two weeks ago I was perusing auctions for a copy of Road Rash for the Sega CD (I already have a great condition case with artwork and manual for it) and happened across an auction for a Master System loose cartridge for $9.99 with Free Shipping.

There were two others on eBay as well, one complete with a damaged manual for $48.00 and another complete and in good shape, they were asking $74.xx

I Took a shot, and placed a bid on the $9.99 loose cartridge, and waited for the auction to close. I won it for $9.99.

Label is not perfect, but I bought it to play.
Not bad, now my Sega Master system collection is up to 4 games.

Later that day I decided to see if I could find some artwork online for it, and came across another auction for Reprinted artwork and in a Universal game case for $5.3x shipped. Not bad, clicked Buy It Now, and had it a few days later.

Looks Great and for $5.00, works for me!

Got a good playable copy, in a case I can put on the shelf for $15.00 instead of $50.00+, You won;t hear any Complaints from Me!

My Dream Band Lineup

I had a discussion today at work with some people about music (I Loooooove Music, big part of my life) and thought, well why not share mine here as well.

Now before I share my dream lineup of "Professional Famous" band members I can say with 100% certainty that my personal Dream Lineup for a band I would like: Myself on vocals and guitar, my daughter Miranda and her fiancée Nate sharing/swapping lead and rhythm guitar duties. as for bass and drums, just some fun people to jam with.

My personal "professional" dream lineup would be"

Vocals: Tim 'Ripper' Owens (Beyond Fear, Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Charred Walls of the Damned) - hands down, no second thought. I am a huge fan of all of Mr. Owens vocal work.

Bass: Jason Newsted (Flotsam & Jetsam, Newsted, Voivod, Metallica)  - Not only is Heavy Metal Music one of my all time favorite albums, Mr. Newsted is an excellent bass player, a fan of music, and someone I would just love to collaborate with on any musical project.

Drums: Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damage Plan, Hellyeah) - An absolutely incredible heavy metal drummer.

Guitars: Kirk Hammett (Exodus, Metallica) - A great all around guitar player. & Dave Mustaine (Metallica, Megadeth) - An incredible technical guitar player, just pickup any Megadeth album and enjoy.
