Another Car with a VW identity crisis

As I shared in a previous blog, I saw a Honda Civic with a VW Emblem Exhaust.
http://daveswickedthoughts.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-car-has-and-idenity-crisis.html

Well, the other day my daughters and I were on the way home, we went to Coldstone (Cake Batter Ice Cream!) and a Pawn Shop. At the Pawn Shop I got a perfectly working newer Black Xbox 360 controller, and she got a perfectly working (it still had a charge at the shop) White DS Lite (No Stylus or Charger) but we have 4 extra chargers we have picked up at Thrift stores and I have a bunch of misc stylus's, They were both $5.00 each. Was going to take pictures and post a Blog, but since we had already taken the price tags off and cleaned the residue with Goo Gone, I said F it..

Anyway, on the way home we saw ANOTHER car with a VW Emblem? Is this a thing? Why would you want to slap a VW emblem on a P.O.S. Mercury Sable. Although, granted a VW would be a step up from a Sable......

Anyway, that's it for the week. I am leaving Tuesday for my other daughters wedding in Utah, Driving 20 hours straight through.

Destiny Logo is a Urinal Block?

Today at work, I was alleviating my kidneys of pressure, and I looked down and thought I saw the Destiny Logo. I remember thinking "Could someone at Bungie really have been that lazy?"

Was the guy in charge of coming up with a logo running late for the meeting, squandered whatever time he had and scrambling for inspiration? Stops in the lavatory for a relief break, and to buy himself a few minutes? He looks down and goes "I got it!"

My Destiny Steelbook (I love steelbooks)

Aaaand a Urinal Block

I dunno, You decide.

Nice Craigslist Pickup

Did I really just type that? An actual good (in this case great) deal on Craigslist? That very, very, very rarely happens anymore these days, the last good deal I got off CL, was back in 2010.

Yep, last night I saw an ad for 15 Xbox 360 games for $2.00 each. Messaged the guy offered $20 for all, he countered with $25, and made arrangements to meet tonight. When we met up, he took the games out he said he found the 2 in the Blockbuster cases also, and was tossin' them in for free! 17 360 games for $25.00, Awesome! The ones on the cases are in awesome shape, with only Ace Combat missing the manual. The games in the Blockbuster cases are in great shape and are Resident Evil 5 (Disc Only) and Hitman Blood Money (Disc and Manual).

I remember when Craigslist was Gooddealslist. Now it is all people who think they can get Retail+ for their old items. I see people trying to sell USED Xbox/PS3 games at the same as a NEW retail copy, and sometimes more? When did this become a thing? And are people really that dumb that they pay these prices? I guess they deserve what they get for not doing their homework.

Anyway, nice to know there are still some good deals left on Craigslist.

Memorial Day Pawn Shop Pickups

We have a Pawn Shop chain here in MN called Pawn America. Most of them have pretty fair and good prices. Especially the one 6 Blocks from my Apt.  Except for the Fridley, MN store, I recommend Staying Far, Far, away, or bring your own Vaseline if you chose to buy something from this store. But, it's up to you.

Anyway, I am on their mailing list, and regularly get coupons, most of the time it is $5.00 off a purchase of $10.00 or more. I keep copies of these in the car at all times, since they have no expiration on them, I feel like if I go in without one, I am just asking to pay extra.

Periodically they will send out the coupon I used today, $10.00 off a purchase of $20.00 or more! These used to also come without expiration dates, guess not anymore.

I wasn't gonna waste 1/2 off  $20, so I loaded up my 4 Year old, and off to Pawn America we went.

Today's Pickup's

I picked up a Complete Gauntlet Seven Sorrows for the Original Xbox, Eternal Champions for the
Genesis (no manual though) and Super Mario Advance 3 Yoshi's Island, Which completes my Super Mario Advance Collection!

Sacred Line Afterplay

I have finished a full play through of this game, and I knew it was short, and I completed it in about a 1/2 hour. However, I do wish it would have been a little longer, There are multiple endings, so there is some replay value. But, for a "new" Sega Genesis game for $39.00, I am not going to complain.

I would recommend it, if you have a few extra bucks laying around, and are looking for somethng new to try out on your Genesis.

The full playthrough was done on my Model 1 Genesis on my 32" CRT TV:

I think the CRT TV gameplay looks better myself, but I suppose for a roughly 25 year old system, it makes sense it would. I think I am going to look into a HD upscaler/converter and see how that goes. I would rather play on a TV twice as big, who wouldn't?

This car has an Idenity Crisis

Took my daughter to the park this morning, and saw this Honda Civic parked there, then I noticed the VW Exhaust tip?
Is it a Honda or a Volkswagen?

It's almost as bad as the late 90's Chevrolet Cavalier I saw in the Wendy's drive thru a few years back, all the Chevrolet emblems had been removed, and replaced with Dodge emblems? I just don't understand people sometimes.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the side as well, this car was sitting so low, I don't know how this car is able to be driven on a public road, without damaging itself, MN Roads suck!

Small Goodwill Score

Today, I decided to swing by one of my favorite Goodwills, it's been awhile since I made a stop. Looks like they got some new price tags.

Found a couple PS2 games, $2.99 each. I have been looking for a good condition, complete copy of Ridge Racer V for awhile, I have found a few beat up copies, It's nice to finally find a nice, complete copy.

Stickers Cleaned Off Nice

Looks like one of the tabs for the manual are broken off of the DOA case, oh well I have a STACK of extra PS2 cases, with the memory card holder, I just like em better.

Hey, Kristopher Garin from Brainerd, MN, I got your game!

What's this? At least the registration card was filled out in pencil, wonder if I can erase it off decently? Looks like he bought the game 12/29/03. Musta bought it with his X-Mas money. I decided to be decent, and covered the address and phone number, just cause there are a lotta Jackasses out there that would probably use it for evil.

Uuuggghhhh, Stupid People!

Today at work,
Yes, notice the misspelling on the meme?

Right now I am working a 5 month contract doing Document Control/File Remediation for a global company with one it's main offices here in Minnesota. It is a very tedious, very detail oriented, very important (as in Federal Taxes important), and for most people, very boring. I however, have been enjoying it so far, I like this kind of work, except.....

Of course they used a temp agency to hire in enough bodies to get the project done by the end of September, since they are closing this office and moving to Warsaw, Poland (I wonder, if it all doesn't get done and I do an incredible job like usual, if I could get a work trip to Poland. I've never been over seas, hmmmm) Well anyway, they should have either went to a college and got some kids for a work study, or at least gave an IQ or common sense test. They did require a drug test though (looking at one or two, I wonder how they passed). It reminds me of being in college when we are having meetings in the training room.

This one time in college..... I was in a Microsoft Office class (which I got A++ in, yep I am that nerd, yay for extra credit) and the 2 other nerds I was hanging out with, would just sit there and goof off online, or IM back and forth during class. The teacher would also ask the class a question, and point at our table and say "Except you 3", Excuse us for actually knowing stuff, sheesh. Anyway there were these 2 girls that sat in the front, they were dumb as dumb gets. The teacher would do a 45 min lecture, and they would say "Um, we didn't get that, can you go over it all again? Don't get me wrong there are 3-4 other guys who get it, and who also just wanna get to work, the other 20 people, well........

That is what it has been like this week at work. I understand totally what we need to be doing, but 95% of the people are just beating a dead horse, with the EXACT same stupid questions over and over and over again. Total Fucking Frustration. I just wanna go back to my desk and work, I wonder how I can get excluded from the pain sessions and just work.

On A Pale Horse

I am an Avid Reader, I have been reading regularly since I was 7-8 Years Old. I always have a book with me where ever I go, That is why I prefer paperbacks, I can shove them in my back pocket, glove box or map pouch in the car, front flap on my lunch bag so I can read during lunchtime at work.I am also a fast reader, I used to get asked at my old job "how many books do you read in a week?" Because they would always see me with different books.

E-Books, Fuck Those! I personally have absolutely NO interest, desire, compulsion or curiosity to "Read" an E-Book. Not on a Kindle, Not on a Nook, or a Computer Monitor. There is nothing like the feeling of holding a book in your hands, turning the pages, hearing the noise they make. 2 of the best smells in the world are New book smell, and old book smell. E-Books just are not for me, I know there are people out there who love them, but I avoid them myself. But Dave they say, you can carry 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 books on one of these, it is convenient. Yeah, why do you think BOOK Bags were invented. There were Star Wars stories that were "E-Book" only releases, however, I didn't read them until they were added to paperback reprints of other Star Wars novels.

I generally will be found reading something either from the Forgotten Realms, or Star Wars universes, But, there are plenty of other misc books I read as well. The Ravenloft Series of Horror Novels is very, very good as well, and contains another of my absolute favorite books. I also recently read a book about a Vietnam Soldier unit, called Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers that was very good.

A few of my favorite authors are:

Karen Traviss: She wrote the Gears of War books and one of the best Star Wars series, Republic Commando.

Simon R Green: I really enjoy his Deathstalker and Something from the Nightside Series.

R.A. Salvatore: Whenever One of his Forgotten Realms books come out, I am at the book store that day, picking up a copy.

Terry Brooks: His Magic Kingdom of Landover Series is awesome, Another series both My Daughter and I have read several times. I have read a few of his other books, like his Shannanara series, but they just aren't (to me) as good as his tales in the Kingdom of Landover

 Piers Anthony: One of my absolute favorite authors hands down. This man has written so many great stories, and series, I have many, many of his books. A few to note;

Bio of a Space Tyrant series: I remember buying the first book in this series when I lived in California back in the 80's, I have ended up reading this series 4-5 times. (Yep I am one of those nerds who loves re-reads books), over the last 30 years.

Xanth series: I believe these are one of the first Piers Anthony novels I read. I remember the school library copies.

Mode series: Another Great, and Intriguing Series

Misc Single Novels: Hard Sell, Firefly, Killobyte and Total Recall (The original Schwarzenegger classic) a Novelization of one of my favorite movies. These are just a few off the top of my head, I am sure there are more.

Incarnations of Immortality: is the name of an eight-book fantasy series by Piers Anthony. The first seven books each focus on one of seven supernatural "offices" (DeathTimeFateWarNatureEvil and Good) in a fictional reality and history parallel to ours, with the exception that society has advanced both magic and modern technology. The series covers the adventures and struggles of a group of humans, called "Incarnations", who hold these supernatural positions for a certain time.

The above paragraph was "Borrowed" from Wikipedia

This in a Incredible series, I will admit, I have not read the 8th book in the series, it did not come out until 2007 so has me a little nervous as to how it will tie in to the rest, which were written between 1983 & 1990.The first of which is my absolute favorite book, hands down, which I am going to talk a little about below.

On A Pale Horse

The cover says it all (above the authors name) This truly is An Extrodinary Novel, with a story that sucks you in, keeps your interest throughout and makes you sad once it is over, that it is over. I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who has not read it, aside from the picture of the rear cover, and if you are a reader, you should. I have read many, many books over the years, but found when pushed that this is my favorite. I highly recommend both this book, and the entire series (as well as other novels by Mr. Anthony) to anyone who enjoys Science Fiction or Fantasy novels.

** EDITED 5/21 **  I originally had the Shannanara series accredited to R.A. Salvatore, This series was written by Terry Brooks, who wrote an amazing series I added above. I originally had intended to have Mr Brooks in there, and must have deleted something at some point, an did not notice. I somehow screwed up something in the original posting, and proof read.

I apologize, I don't like making mistakes.

I Bought A Sports Game?

I went into the Thrift Store the other day, and saw this for 0.99. Madden 2005 Collector's Edition for the Playstation 2, Aaaaaand I bought it. A Sports game, Me? WTF? I have NO intention of playing it, so why did I buy it?

I have never been a sports person, never been into sports, don't care about sports, couldn't tell anyone anything about sports plays, calls etc... I can identify which  ball or average piece of equipment is for which sport (for the most part), otherwise I have zero to less interest in sports, Including sports Video Games.

Hello, My name is David, and I am a Video Game Hoarder.

When you get out to the car in the parking lot, and you are questioning yourself about the purchase you just made, maybe it's time to admit you have a problem. I am a Video game collector, I love playing and collecting Video Games, Especially for the older systems, the newer systems just don't have the same feel, yeah I said it! My Sega Genesis is 1000 times better than my Xbox 360 or PS3, Period.

Anyway, back to the topic, I saw this at the Thrift Store for 0.99, and it is in Excellent Condition, with the slip cover, and I bought it. I hope it enjoys the rest of it's life sitting on a shelf, right alongside my dignity......

Sacred Line Unboxing (Sega Genesis)

Sacred Line for the Sega Genesis is a brand new Graphic Adventure game developed exclusively for Sega Mega Drive / Genesis console. It’s an extended version of the original Sacred Line game.
It tells the story of Ellen, a private detective, who is trying to survive in Eastern Europe. Lately detective business, which she inherited from her missing sister Sarah, almost ceased its existence and one day before she was going to close her office she got an anonymous call. The unknown asked her to find some hidden forest outpost and told her about its position. That was just the beginning.
I found out about this game just looking up "homebrew" games for the Sega Genesis. Homebrew games are games not made by the console developers, but fans of our old systems. It was sold through the Watermelon Games Magical Game Factory. The almost 30 year old Sega Genesis being my absolute favorite console, to have someone making new games for it is very exciting.
I purchased this for $39.00 shipped, comes with everything except and actual Genesis game case, which I have plenty of extras of (Sports games are good for something), Lets take a look at what I received.
Nice, Looking good so far, Looks like a standard Sega Genesis Cartdridge. Aside from the notch on the left side, but from the pictures I have seen all Watermelon games carts are like this.
Comes with the Cartridge, a Manual, some Stickers and what looks like a Dice.
And the Case Artwork (wish it wasn't folded up the way it was, but no biggie)

The Artwork in a Standard Genesis Game Case

And the Game and Paperwork In the Case
Here's the game filed on the game shelf with it's Original Sega Brethren

However......... I do have one complaint (come on, it's me afterall), The Game manual.

The manual is the size and same layout as a N.E.S. (Nintendo Entertainment System) Manual. I really wish it would have been the same size as a standard Sega Genesis Manual.

Overall I am impressed with the quality and overall presentation. I have played some so far, and enjoyed. I plan to do a complete game play through on my You Tube Channel. Part One is up now.

Here is a link to a Full Play Through on my You Tube Channel, as I understand it, there are multiple endings, and eventually I will play again, and see which others I can get.
