Birthday Game Pickups

Recently knocked out another year of life. Just more excuses to get some more games!

A few days before I had been at a Pawn America, and was going through their dwindling video games stock, Their video game section really has become a shadow of it's former self. And I pretty much think I am going to have to remove them from my game hunting rotation.

Anyway, I left a game behind because I thought I had picked it up, even though it was a good price and I probably could have sold it for more, I left it. Well once I got home I checked and I did not have it, I had picked up a different game in the same genre, and only felt familiar with the cover art from looking at it recently in my Gamestop $2.25 game scores.

Complete and in good shape for $6.00

And gifts from my family

First off my mom just sent me a check, so I ordered a game off Amazon I had been wanting to pickup when I had a few extra bucks sitting around, since it's (re) release earlier this year.

Great game!

I first played this a couple years ago when it was a free download with Xbox's Games with Gold. I had never played the series before, and now have them all. The original on the Original Xbox, 3 on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and now V.2 and 4 on the Xbox One,

Also got from my family

Gotta finish Rise of the Tomb Raider first.

And from my little 8 year old punkin' something that ticks 3 boxes of our shared favorites

Lego, Porsche and Forza!

AWESOME!!

Game Store and Half Price Books Pickups

I have had a stack of extras kicking around for a bit, had em listed on both craigslist and eBay. And have not had an action on them, so I decided to go check out a game store I saw a guy on YouTube go to a few times. It was Gamerheadz in a mall about a half hour from my house.

It is a nice large (not packed and cramped like a Gamestop) clean store, looked a little thin on product at first glance, but after I went in with my trade ins, I got to look around and I really had to take 3-4 trips around the store to find anything good. They have ALOT of common games, and of course the undesirable sports game stuff. Not really their fault since their stock depends on trade ins, but I thought the store was awfully big for such little selection offered.

Then there was the pricing. As usual another store that is so proud of their wares, they overpriced them. But I had trade credit to use, and knew we were not coming back here, so I had to try and find something in their selection of offerings. They had some PSP UMD Movies I would have been interested in, had they been priced decently.

Speaking of selection, they had a few cool items from collectors editions sitting out on display, but none of it was for sale? There were 2 Killzone 3 Helghast edition helmet busts in the store. I have been looking for one to mod L.E.D.'s into the eyes, but neither was for sale. My daughter also saw a Gears of War 3 Book she really wanted, but again, not for sale?

Anyway I did finally manage to find a Playstation 2 Racing game I had never heard of before.

It was complete and in good shape under all of the old stickers

**Side note** Why don't stores clean off all the old stickers from other game stores/retailers? To me it just makes them look lazy, and not care about presentation for their customers.

I was able to pick up a game for my 32X collection though. It was at the high end of what they go for online, but as my daughter pointed out my trade credit covered half of it, so figured why not.

 Complete
Not sure what the deal is with the plastic on the manual, will have to replace that at some point.

Overall we were not really impressed with the store, their selection or their pricing, so will not be headed back there anytime soon.

But, the afternoon was redeemed as we went to Fuddruckers for lunch! I had not been to one in a very long time,10-15 years or so, and my daughter knew it was 3 blocks form the mall, and treated us all to lunch. It was very delicious!

On the way back we stopped at a Half Price Books, and well we scored some great stuff, way better than the dedicated game store!

First a couple PSP games

Then a couple games for the Original Xbox

And some Xbox 360 games as well

And finally, a Sega Dreamcast game
I have the fishing rod controller and Sega Bass Fishing, so why not?

That's it for this weekend, see ya soon!

Even More Game Pickups!

I tell my family I am a game hoarder, and that I really could stop buying games and have plenty to play for the rest of my life. BUT, I just can't seem to stop buying new and new to me games.

After my daughter and I played Lego City Undercover on the Wii U & the Xbox One thanks to game pass She (ok I) really wanted the original that was on the Nintendo 3DS.

Complete off eBay for $7.49 shipped
An absolutely great fun game!

And while we are on the subject of hand held games, from the Salvation Army

 Complete and in great shape
I had the favorites version of this game
so I am going to replace it with this one and sell the old to offset my cost

from Savers for $1.99

Complete and in great shape

Complete, in good shape for 4.99 shipped off eBay
One I had been chasing after

And a few Pawn America pickups
Yes, I had removed the sticker out of habit once I got home, then I realized I hadn't taken pictures for you all before I did it, and had to peel it apart (cause I folded it over on itself) and put it back on.

a racing game for a Quarter? Yes Please!
Complete and in great shape for a quarter
Someone didn't like the windshield livery I guess?

Nice Price - Finally

as I was headed to the checkout, an employee commented he loved my Cradle of Filth T-shirt,
during the whole while I was checking out we were talking about heavy metal music and bands.

And onto a great score from my favorite Salvation Army! One I didn't necessarily NEED, but wanted cause I already have two of the black ones, while I personally no longer owned a white one, so for $10.00

 Sega Dreamcast console
Missing the power cord, but I have 2 so, no biggie

Wow, what a fugly controller

Everything was taped together, controller and a/v cable to the console.
I am going to try and sell the controller for Ten Bucks, and get the console for free!

When i got home I of course had to find out if it worked

 Boot up screen, good sign

Dashboard menu

But, all my Dreamcast games are packed away, how do I test if it plays games?

Wait, it plays music CD's too!
Popped in Alice Coopers Brutal Planet (Great CD) and it played great!
I assume if it reads and plays CD's it should play games as well, I hope.

I also picked this up, just to see if I could make a couple bucks off of it

But I am guessing I just paid $2.99 for a case.....
