In general I am not a fan of movie "Remakes" or "Reboots", however there are some that were awesome.
So what started me off on this Rant? I was perusing YouTube, as I do on a daily basis, more frequently now since I am temporarily out of work (I start a job 5/11 @$15.00 p/hr) since quitting my last job, was just tired of all the BS. Anyway, I was perusing YouTube, and came across a trailer for Fantastic 4. I liked the 05 & 07 movies, even though I have never been a big "superhero" fan, I assumed it was to be another sequel or continuation of the story with Jessica Alba and friends.
So, I watch the Trailer, and I was noticing, the story looked very familiar, then I realize that the characters were different actors, and they were just retelling the same story, as the movie 10 years earlier? Really? Why? This just came out 10 years ago, Was there really a need to Retell the story as opposed to just making a sequel?
Which got me thinking about Spiderman (Which I liked), with Tobey MaGuire. The first one came out in 2002, with #2 in 2004 and #3 (Meh, this one was just OK) in 2007. And again, was "Rebooted" in 2012 (which I have not seen), Why?
Also, I noticed recently, another favorite of my youth, Poltergeist has been remade as well, Releasing May 2015. On one hand I am interested, on the other appalled. Why? Well Another of my absolute childhood favorites, Robocop was Rebooted, and was absolutely terrible, a disgrace to the franchise. Same goes for the Total Recall redo, again the original is one of my favorite movies, and again the remake fails. The Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot, Was just not a good movie, I have watched it 3-4 times, to give it a chance (I bought the DVD the night it came out, I rarely see movies in theaters these days). Again, yet another of my absolute favorite franchises ruined. On the other hand, Rob Zombie's Halloween remakes were AWESOME! And I am disappointed Rob Zombie has stated he has no interest in continuing with them.
Just a few examples, I can pull outta my head quick:
The Karate Kid: Original = Good, Remake = Total Fucking Garbage (I didn't even finish this P.O.S.)
The Amityville Horror: Original = Good, Remake = Bad
Friday the 13th: Original: Good, Remake = Decent
Thirteen Ghosts: Original Good, Remake = Good
House on Haunted Hill: Original = OK, Remake = Good
The Last House House on the Left: Original = Good, Remake = Good
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Original = Good, Remake = Good
I Spit on Your Grave: Original = Good, Remake = Good
Bad News Bears: Original = Good, Remake = Decent
Gone in 60 Seconds: Original = Good, Remake Decent
Halloween 1 & 2: Originals = Good, Remakes = Amazing
It seems most Horror Remakes are Decent to Good, everything else just seems to fall flat. Wonder why that is? So, I do hold some hope that Poltergeist will be Decent or better, we shall see.
In my opinion, if no one in Hollywood can come up with anything new, just keep remaking and regurgitating stuff every ten years, Get lost, go get a job somewhere else. I mean seriously shut down Hollywood. If I wanna see Robocop, I will watch the Peter Weller original movies (Yeah admittedly #3 wasn't the greatest, and Mr. Weller was not in (Robocop was played by Robert Burke) But the Reboot had no where near the same feel, or story as the original.
I blame the "No child left behind" mentality of the world today, why should anyone show initiative, or come up with anything new, when you can just "get by" with other peoples ideas and someone else taking care of you? My ex-wife's mother was a teacher, and she explained how frustrating it was that she had total morons, who couldn't read or write, and yet had to be passed on to the next grade due to the no child left behind legislation, so they didn't feel bad. So once they get out into the workforce, why wouldn't they just have things handed to them, or have to actually do any work? Maybe I should move to Hollywood, and get a job at a Studio, I would look like a freaking God! Or, I could just spit out remakes and get Paid!
Anyway, I'm getting irritated now so will just end this here before I go off on too much of a ranting tangent. Thanks for Reading!

Wolfenstein: The New Order
My 4 year old was tired early tonight, and she was conked out and snoring by 9:45p, Since I had some actual time to myself, I decided to crack open the Wolfenstein: The New Order game I picked up for the 360 the other night, and give er a whirl.
I have been playing Wolfenstein since the original Wolfenstein 3D game on PC, Always a good time. This game is no different. I started playing about 10:30p (had to install disc 1), and next thing I know I get a text, and it was 12:30a!
I was immersed in the game, and did not realize 2 hours had flown by, I also decided to record some gameplay footage with my phone, and I uploaded my 1st You Tube Video, Link below.

Target Clearance games!
My daughter and I were on our way to an appt, and we ran into Target to kill some time (Ok, I also had to pee) and came across some clearance games. for some nice prices!
Wolfenstein The New Order. I was going to wait until I got an Xbox One to pick this up, but for $8.98, I couldn't not buy it. Alot of people have said it is a Great Game! So, when I get a One, I will play it a second time.
Next up, Midway Arcade Origins for $5.98. Has 31 Arcade Classics. A few I am looking forward to playing: Rampage, 720, Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, Marble Madness, Smash TV and Spy Hunter, Just to name a few.
And, how often do you still find New, Sealed Sony PSP Games at a Retailer? God of War Ghosts of Sparta, also $5.98.
I did however, have to ask my daughter to "bum" dad some money. I left my wallet 30 miles away at home, on my desk........ Thanks Again Mir!
And another Goodwill find from Wednesday, A Sega Dreamcast Fishing Rod Controller, In nice shape, 0.99

Game Hallway
In the new apartment, finally somewhat organized.....
The game room is now, The game hallway. Since we no longer have the 3rd bedroom, the only place to keep my games out was in the hall. Looks good to me.
It also required me to put some more of my retro consoles in the living room, so I opted for all my Sega's and the Original NES.
That's it, getting the new apartment unpacked and organized and looking for a new job, Thanks for Reading!

Odd DVD Case
I was unpacking, and going through one the DVD boxes and found this DVD set I had bought last fall. It was still sealed, so I figured I would just open it, and put it on the "to be watched" shelf.
When I opened the case, I was surprised. I have never seen a DVD case like this before, and we have ALOT of DVD's (1,000+). The DVD's are in paper sleeves (like old PC Games) and the case is molded to hold them.

Dungeons and Dragons The Complete Animated Series
Yes, I played D&D, and remember watching the Cartoon growing up. I believe I paid $4-5.00 for this.
An odd DVD case I have never seen before, I found it interesting enough to share.
